 Technical Issues

The small business specialist clinic is often times a one or two doctor practice.  Although there are some large specialty clinics (sometimes referred to as a specialty group), the one or two doctor specialty clinic is probably the most common form of specialty veterinary business.

Unlike a general practice, the specialty practice derives its value specifically from the individual doctor.  Many specialists do not rely upon return visits and continuing business from a group of clients.  In general specialty practices do not possess a lot of "good will".

One of our key tests at the clinic is:  What is the value of doing a particular thing and how does it relate to business income or client satisfaction?  We place a low priority on things that would be nice to do but do not get a high score using the above test.

We treat the animal owner and the referring doctors as clients.  The animal owners pay for our services, but the referring doctors send the paying clients.
