 Online PIMs

Many of us have been using Personal Information Managers (PIMs).  Well devices like the Zaurus, Psion and HP devices now have competition on the Internet.

Infoworld recently (10May1999) reviewed a great number of online PIMs.  They tabulated the features and listed the planners in two tiers. They consider Visto Briefcase to be the most full-featured in tier one.

Tier One included:

Name / URL

Company

AnyDay.com (beta)

AnyDay.com Inc.

Appoint.net

AppointNet Inc.

Visto.Briefcase

Visto Corp.

Jump (beta)

Jump Networks Inc.

When

AOL

Yahoo Calendar

Yahoo Inc.

Visto Briefcase also won the Editor's Choice award from PC Magazine.

Tier Two included:

Name / URL

Company

Abrio

Confluent

Bullwhip Extranet

Bullwhip Solutions

Day-Timer Digital

Day-Timer Digital

Easy Diary

Ruskin Software Technology

Magical Desk

MyEvents.com

MyEvents.com

My Time

Lycos

PlanetAll.com

Amazon.com

ScheduleOnline

Jintek

SuperCalendar

SuperCalendar.com

Uniplanet (beta)

Uniplanet

If you check out only two of the above, check out Bullwhip Extranet and Uniplanet (offers Microsoft Outlook™ synchronization).

Several of the PIMs support public and private groups and have features (including calendars and task lists) that are worth considering!

Ruskin Software Technology also offers applications for Windows CE devices.

While creating this page and checking the links, we signed up for Visto Briefcase, Bullwhip Extranet, AnyDay and Uniplanet.  We were easily able to import an address book from Microsoft Outlook™ to Visto Briefcase.  E-mail me and let me know what you do or what you like!
