 An Unusual Problem

The other day we had a database problem.  It now appears that a loss of power to one computer caused the problem.

All of our primary hard drives in the computers are contained in removable carrier trays.  Each has its own power switch key.  One such key was (mistakenly) left in the lock such that it may have accidentally been bumped, causing a momentary loss of power to the drive. We learned a valuable lesson and hopefully will avoid a bigger problem in the future.

This type of problem is in the same category as a power supply problem.  A UPS does not protect against an internal (to the computer) loss of power.
