We have client information handouts that were prepared by the doctor for a wide variety of diseases / problems.
We have an expression that "verbal does not go". Much of what we do is provide the client with written information and instruction. We explain each document or report, and ask the client to refer to the information for answers to their questions before attempting to contact us after hours.
Information provided to the client may help them to identify a change in condition that would warrant a call to the doctor for additional consultation.
Some specialists are providing web sites that incorporate client information pages and an active message board where questions may be posted and subsequently answered. An example of such a site may be found at www.eyevet.org.
